Robert  J. Herdin passed away at his home last Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 65.  

A Paterson native, Herdin grew up in Clifton. He lived in Roxbury and then Laurel, Md., for 10 years before moving to Parsippany in 2004.  

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Villanova University and an MBA from Rutgers University.  

Herdin spent 35 years as a systems manager for Verizon until retiring in 2003.  

He was a member of Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church.  

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Paula Herdin;  sons Mark and his wife Jenifer of Boonton and Kevin and his wife Andrea of Skippack, Penn.; and sister Marilyn Rowan of Clifton.  

Arrangements were handled by the Par-Troy Funeral Home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was offered at Saint Ann R.C. Church in Parsippany.

Herdin was entombed at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
