Par High Grad Wins Realtor's 'Chance for Success' Scholarship

For the ninth year in a row, a Parsippany realtor presented a college scholarship to a local high school senior in recognition of her academic achievement and work ethic.

Rani-Belle Cabaccang, who graduated from Parsippany High School last month, is the 2012 recipient of the Jackie Scura's Chance for Success scholarship.

Scura said that in seeking scholarship candidates, she saw in Cabaccang, a native of the Phillippines, the same sort of work ethic and drive that she said has brought her success in her own life and career.

"Rani-Belle has had her career aspirations mapped out since the age of 5 when her mother brought her along to a care center where she was employed as a nurse aide," said Re/Max First Choice Realty of Parsippany spokesperson Amanda Wilson in a statement. "Seeing the compassion displayed by the nurses and the strong bond they had with their patients made Rani-Belle certain that she wanted to follow in their footsteps when she grew up."

The new grad plans to enter the nursing program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. To prepare, she took an additional year's worth of courses in math and science—more than is required.

"I feel I am ready to face college and overcome the obstacles that are in the future," Cabaccang said in her scholarship essay. "In order to get where you want to be, there can be no giving up and pessimism—just ambition, drive and hard work."

Scura said she is sure her 2012 Chance for Success scholar will do exactly that.
