Par High Finishes Strong at State Sectionals
The Parsippany High School Girls Winter Track team made its presence known at the State Sectional North II Group 2 Championship. Led by senior Co-Captain Karen Lobaton, the Redhawks finished in third place overall.
Lobaton started the meet off with a second place finish in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:01:76 and followed it by finishing third in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.86.
Sophomore Bria Saunders overcame a questionable lane 1 assignmentin the 55-meter final to take second place with a time of 7.48.
Sophomore Samantha Pignatelli, recovering from an injury that has prevented her from competing for most of the season, finished fifth in the 3200-meter race with a time of 12:01.62.
Not to be outdone in the running events, senior high jumpers earned top six places as well: Senior Nicole Lobaton and senior Co-Captain Samantha Higinbotham earned third and fourth place, respectively, with heights of 4' 8" and 4' 6".
The Redhawks capped off the evening with a fifth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (Karen Lobaton, Nicole Lobaton, Samantha Higinbotham, Bria Saunders) with a time of 4:21:56.
On the boys' side, Senior Killian Gesicki earned fith place in the high jump with a height of 5' 6"and a sixth place finish in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.43.
Top six finishers will compete in the State Group 2 Championship on Saturday, Feb. 18.
