It was funny, but I removed the link because the video violates our TOS. We wouldn't want kids to click through to it.

Not only am I a social media professional living in Hillsborough, but I also wrote two books on the topic and I work full time (handling community and social media) for the largest social media/new media conference in the industry.

Deb, you're a serious success story and your (former) blog is the reason I have work today. :)

Do you have workshops or networking events and do you charge for them? It would be helpful, if like Rory, some networking events would be the cost of a cup of coffee. I find these days the costs become prohibitive in order to gain some information on how to enhance your business.

Watch out for vultures. There's a lot of people who prey on small businesses who claim they are 'social media gurus'.

Social media is not for every business. You might find yourself spending a lot of time and money on it and getting minimal if any results. The best strategy that we have found is (a) to use social media to find potential clients and let them go from social media to your website and then convert them to sales, (b) Use it as part of a mix of ways to reach out to build your brand name awareness. Any questions, feel free to contact us at any time. www.sparkdriven.com

Pretty nice layout this PATCH page has. Wonder why ours has not changed? Also, nice that the social media summit is free in other PATCH territories: http://levittown-ny.patch.com/groups/chamber-of-commerce/p/free-social-media-education--breakfast-for-long-island-businesses-what-to-do-about-yelp-twitter-and-facebook-and-your-reputation-online

Every time I hear the phrase "social media" and "summit" combined, I die a little inside because it always means the people involved have no concept of technology and its evolving role for corporations and marketing.
