Cesaro: 'I Want to Take My Skills to the Next Level'

Parsippany Township Council member John Cesaro announced Tuesday that he's running for a seat on the Morris County Board of Freeholders. 

"I love Morris County. I want to raise my family here," Cesaro told Patch. "I feel I've done a lot for Parsippany, so I want to take my skills to the next level.

Cesaro has already found a political home on the Morris Conservative Team ticket for the June primary election along with former Washington Township Mayor John Krickus and David Scappicchio, a former mayor of Mount Olive.

Cesaro appears to have a well of goodwill among county Republicans. His nominating address for BettyLou DeCroce was warmly received last month by those attending the . 

In a statement, the Cesaro-Krickus-Scappicchio ticket set forth its reason for targeting the incumbent freeholders seeking re-election:

“In 2010 and 2011, three incumbent Republican Morris County freeholders were defeated by primary challengers, clearly demonstrating that Republican voters are eager to challenge the party’s status quo and elect reform-minded, conservative Republicans—Republicans in name and action."

The challengers' campaign reportedly will focus on cutting county government spending and making the delivery of services more efficient.

Cesaro, an attorney who lives with his wife and child in Parsippany, is in his second council term, which is set to expire at the end of 2013.

Krickus is a certified public accountant who lives in Long Valley with his spouse and two daughters.

Scapicchio, whose term as Mount Olive's mayor ended at the end of 2011, is now a partner in residential construction company Scapicchio & Sons. He has been married for 35 years and has four daughters.
