Little League Business Supporters Honored
Mayor calls Modell's Sporting Goods, Shop Rite and Corigliano Towing 'partners in caring.'
Parsippany's boys of summer made an appearance at Tuesday's Township Council meeting at Town Hall to help honor local businesses that helped in their Little League World Series success.
The members of the Mid-Atlantic Regional champions of the Par-Troy Little League East were on hand as Mayor James Barberio presented township proclamations to three "partners in caring":
- Modell's Sporting Goods - Community Ambassador Hugh Henry congratulated the team for its success. It was noted that Modell's, which sold PTLLE shirts and gave all proceeds to the athletes' parents for Little League expenses, ultimately donated $25,000 to the league.
- Corigliano Towing - Michael Corigliano was effusive in his thanks for the tribute. He remarked that when he was asked to provide his hydraulic flatbed trailer for the All-Stars' homecoming, he had to cancel vacation plans. "How could I let you guys down?" he asked by way of explanation. "You guys are the best!"
- Shop Rite - General Manager Ned Gladstein said the supermarket is proud to donate to the Parsippany Food Pantry, the Police Athletic League and the PTLLE. Gladstein honored the boys, calling them "heroes" whose "team ethic is exactly what we want to emulate." And he thanked Mayor Barberio for the honor, saying, "Parsippany has been very, very good to us. If we can return even a small portion pf that,. we're happy."
