County College of Morris Trustee and Former Parsippany BOE Member Alan Gordon Dies Suddenly
Board president remembers 15-year board member as 'a great, gentle man.'
Alan J. Gordon, member of the County College of Morris Board of Trustees and a former member of the Parsippany Board of Education, died suddenly Friday morning. Board of Education sources say he succumbed to an apparent heart attack.
"He was a great, gentle man and a really kind person who really cared about education and about children," Board President Frank Calabria recalled. "He really believed in the schools and the school district and told me often how much he loved it. We learned a lot from him about leadership."
In addition to his work in education, Gordon served as the business coordinator of the Women's Cancer Center in the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Patch will have more information as the story develops.

Alan's death is a terrible surprise!!! Alan served on the board in a true nonpartisan way, he was aforce for the full day kindergarten in Parsippany Troy Hills. He always gave me the answers, Alan was a true friend, his loss is a real tragedy, and I'll miss him !!!

Alan's passing is sad and heart breaking. I had the honor of knowing Alan, and he was a truly decent man. He cared about the children and education, but most importantly he cared and loved his family above all. He was a kind soul that will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I share the sentiments Joe. Alan was also an active member of Kiwanis and a wonderful man. This community will miss him very much. I enjoyed talking with him about the community. His care for the town and it's youth set a great example. And the examples we set are the greatest memorials any of us leave behind. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Alan was also a member of the Parsippany Child Day Care Center board of trustees. All of us at the Center are saddened by his passing. He was insightful, intelligent and humorous and his contributions will be missed. Alan did so much for the community. His loss will be felt by many but many more have benefited from his good works. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Not only a loss to his community, but a loss to all of us who knew and worked with him at Atlantic Health. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, as well as those who were his family at AHS.
