This weekend, many of us will remember the legacy and lessons of the slain civil rights hero Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This installment of Get Out features some events designed to remember Dr. King, whose birthday is Jan. 15. We also have ideas that could help with ongoing resolutions to lose weight and/or get healthy, everything from Masala Bhangra to power stepping. You'll also find arts events and programs to ease the mind. We're excited already: It's going to be a super weekend, Parsippany. Get out and make the most of it.

MLK Interfaith Celebration
Where/When: Friday at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth Am, 879 S. Beverwyck Road, Parsippany
Why Go: To celebrate the birth and life of a man who was all about unity in a multi-choir concert and nondenominational ceremony that brings different faiths together
Cost: Free

Live Entertainment at The Ridge Tavern
When/Where: Friday at 8 p.m. at The Ridge Tavern, 55 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Why sit home when you can have a bite, raise a pint and have a little entertainment right nearby?

Why Go: You want a little more funny in your life.

Rose City Steppers' Annual “Kick-off” Walk/Breakfast
When/Where: Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Madison Civic Center, Madison
Why Go:  To get healthy with free coffee, juice, bagels and fruit, a good constitutional and Morristown Medical Center Registered Dietitian Mary Finckenor's  interactive nutrition game

Masala Bhangra Fitness Class
Where/When: Saturday at 10 a.m. at 243 Route 46, Parsippany
Why Go: You want to get into shape, but need a unique approach to getting fit.
Cost: $8

Dragon Tales Pajama Party
When/Where: Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts
Why Go: Kids can relax in your PJs, make some dragon crafts and meet dragon puppet "Hermione" as she recites some of her favorite dragon stories.
Cost: $3 admission per participant and regular admission for all others.

Music for Little Mozarts Preview Class
When/Where: 
Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lindeblad School of Music, 101 Route 46, Pine Brook
Why Go: 
Your kids between the ages of 3 and 6 are ready for a preparatory piano course.

"Damn Yankees"
When/Where: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Raritan Valley Community College.
Why Go: To see a great play about baseball in the midst of football and basketball season. And did we mention the play won many awards when it was on Broadway?
Cost: $37 and $47, depending on seat locations

Buffalo Project band at Hennessey's
When/Where: Saturday at 9 p.m. at Hennessey's Washington Bar, Morristown
Why Go: You want to hear a live band performing covers from the 1970s through today while enjoying a beer or three.
Cost: No cover

Reading of MLK's "Letters from a Birmingham Jail"
When/Where: Sunday at 9:15 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown's Parish House.
Why Go: You want to hear the words of the civil rights leader as they were written by the man himself. (In case you want to read the letter first, here you go.)

The Writers Circle Speaker Series
When/Where: Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sages Pages
Why Go: To learn how a comic book is made from longtime DC and Marvel Comics artist Mark McKenna
