Hundreds Take Strides To Beat Pancreatic Cancer
Scenes from Sunday's Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's PurpleStrides 5K Walk/Run in Parsippany.
Hundreds turned out on a sunny but chilly Sunday morning in Parsippany to take part in the PurpleStrides 5K Walk/Run. The second annual event, held at the local Mack-Cali Business Campus, is a fund raiser for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

I went to thank the volunteers and it was gratifying to know some recognized my involvement with everolimus that was approved in April or so by FDA for Steve Job's disease as neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer has come to be known. Everolimus improves the progression-free-survival to 11 months compared to 5 months or so for placebo, - a clear gain of 6 months in this one of the deadliest cancers due to which over 35 thousand Americans loose their lives; many in the prime of their productive years. Pancreatic cancer is 4th largest killer of cancer patients. I thank every one who participated in The Strides today or donated to this cause. It was very moving and inspring to meet so many relatives of those who succumbed and survivors.
