Hurricane Sandy: Lake Hiawatha School Designated as Shelter
Reprising its role in Irene last year, the elementary school will provide refuge for displaced residents.
Parsippany Police say the township has decided to use Lake Hiawatha Elementary School as an emergency shelter for those who lose power due to Hurricane Sandy.
The school is the same site used to shelter those affected by Tropical Storm Irene last year.
Police Chief Anthony DeZenzo said in a statement that the school will open its doors to residents in need at 1 p.m.
Lake Hiawatha School is located at 1 Lincoln Ave. off of Lake Shore Drive. If you're using GPS to find the site, use the zip code 07034.
