Leaning Utility Pole Closes Granniss Avenue in Morris Plains
No time given as to when pole will be repaired; no power outages reported.
An electrical pole near Watnong Park on Granniss Avenue in Morris Plains remained leaning toward the road at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Safety cones had been placed where Speedwell Avenue becomes Granniss Avenue and police barriers had been placed at further down but were being actively ignored by drivers. A notice on the 511nj.org website noted all lanes remained closed and detoured until further notice.
Less than five JCP&L customers were reporting power outages Friday morning, according to the utility's outage map.
Patch will provide updates as they become available.

They should be forced to replace these poles, just like the one on Rt 46 East near the old Loman auot group building. The pole leans across the roadway and one day it will come down on someone, and I hate to see it come down on a car that is passing by the area.

Who is "they," Mr. Brown? Are you talking about this odummer person again? I don't think he can replace those poles, Mr. Brown, since he only exists in your mind.

Ownership of this pole cannot be determined from your pictures. Your title correctly identifies this as a utility pole. The article itself labels this as an electrical pole. The photos clearly show that the wires on the pole in question are communications(phone/cable) with no JCP&L involvement.( See the top of the poles behind the leaning one.) Ownership, usage and maintenance of UTILITY poles is shared in NJ. Sloppy journalism here. Lazily taking advantage of the post Sandy anger towards JCPL many residents already have.
