Par-Troy East 1 Win Away From Williamsport

Parsippany blasts Pennsylvania to advance to regional championship game on Sunday.

The Parsippany 11/12 all-stars beat Collier, Pa., 9-4, Friday to advance to the Little League Mid-Atlantic Regional championship in Bristol, Conn.

Parsippany will face either Delaware or Maryland Sunday at 5 p.m. with a berth into the Little League World Series in Williamsport on the line.

Parsippany fans showed their support Friday morning at the Connecticut site and locally at Applebee's, which was bathed in a sea of PTLLE red.

PTLLE achieved an early 2-0 lead, thanks to a first-inning home run by Anthony Scannelli, whose grand slam Wednesday put the Parsippany boys in the lead to stay over Maryland. Scannelli is hitting .358 in the tournament.

With Parsippany's Benner Uygun on the mound, Pennsylvania went scoreless during its end of the inning.

Pennsylvania got onto the scoreboard with one run in the second inning.

PTLLE widened its lead by scoring two in its half of the inning. The Collier team scored again, bringing the score to 4-2 Parsippany. Then a Collier two-run homer made the score tied at 4-all at the end of the third.

Par-Troy East broke through in the fifth, scoring four runs in its half to bring its tally to eight. Pennsylvania went scoreless in the inning, leaving the score at the end of five full innings PTLLE 8, Pennsylvania 4.

Parsippany added one more run to its count in the top of the sixth inning. Pennsylvania tried mightily to come back but found itself thwarted by the PTLLE defense in its half of the inning.

Par-Troy East now moves on to the championship game Sunday and takes on the victor of the Delaware-Maryland semifinal. The champion team becomes one of 16 competing in Williamsport for the Little League World Series.

Just returned from Bristol. What a game! These boys just beat a very strong PA team - and outplayed them on the mound, in the field and in the batter's box. Way to go Par-Troy East! The coaches and boys have been up in Bristol for the past week. They are wondering about what Parsippany thinks of this historic run through the post-season! Let's tell them how proud we are of these boys! Good luck on Sunday - we'll be back in Bristol! ONE WIN FROM WILLIAMSPORT!

No. They postponed the DE/MD game until 8pm tonight. It is 2-0 DE in bottom first. Not sure if game will be televised, but if so, likely to be on ESPNU station. PTE folks are rooting for MD over DE....

Parsippany residents. This is a once in a lifetime occurence and these boys deserve all the support they can get tomorrow (Sunday, 5:00 pm) in Bristol. The coaches and players have represented Parsippany with class, respect and sportsmanship while doing their job on the field. One more win and they will represent the entire Mid-Atlantic region with this same integrity and talent.

For those who can make it to Bristol, it is 335 Mix Street in Bristol. About 130 miles from Parsippany - not a bad ride - mostly highway driving. Game starts at 5pm on Sunday. Wear RED! For those who cannot make it, game will be televised live on ESPN2 - channel 35 on Cablevision. We expect Sunday to be Bedlam in Bristol! We will PACK Bristol with Parsippany fans!
