Loaded Gun Seized After New Road Crash
Police said Irvington man did not have a handgun carrying permit.
An Irvington man was released on $10,000 bail after police said they found a loaded 9mm GLOCK handgun on his backseat following a car crash on Saturday on New Road.
Ernst Simeon, 33, was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun and aggravated assault.
Additional police presence was requested after officers responded to the scene of the crash, 260 New Road, around 7:30 p.m. and found Simeon to have a handgun in the back pocket of the front passenger seat of his Chevy Trailblazer, according to a press release sent by Ptl. Earl Kinsey. Kinsey said Simeon did not have a permit to carry a handgun.
Simeon was transported to the police station and released on bail. No injuries were reported at the scene of the crash.

Well, I do feel most relieved knowing the Parsippany police released a person who can afford bail for carrying an illegal weapon. No doubt ol' Ernst laughed all the way home to glorious Irvington and grabbed another illegal weapon from his private stock. Just a matter of time till Pars most wonderful start patting themselves on their backs for a good job done.

Did I misjudge and say illegal weapon? Sorry, I meant to say possession of a loaded weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun and aggravated assault.

If a judge grants bail and the person can pay that bail, how is that the police officers fault???

I think the bail was lowered at the request of a certain elected official writing the judge a nice recommendation letter........ since it ethical after all.

Wow, isn't a person innocent until proven guilty in our judicial system? Do any of you writing know what really happened? Did you see it with your own eyes, or are you just profiling and making assumptions about a driver "from Irvington." Here is another hypothetical, and I am not saying this version has a kernel of truth, but it is just as valid as your convicting this man without a trial. Let's suppose that the cops illegally searched the car with no basis after the accident. They found the gun, but wouldn't be able to charge the motorist with it if it was the result of an illegal search, so they charged him with aggravated assault after the fact to justify the search. I really don't want to think that of the Parsippany police, but it's a possibility, so why don't we let our judicial system sort this all out as it was meant to, and not rush to judgment.

I'm sure the Parsippany Police want nothing more then to arrest someone one trumped up charges. I am sure with the addition of video cameras in the vehicles they illegally searched or better yet planted the gun, right Kenneth! Wake up, smell the coffee, not the BS your trying to spread.

Does Mr. Simeon have a permit for the Glock? It appears he does but doesn't have a carry permit. A carry permit is way too hard to get in New Jersey.
