Par Hills Grad Dies in NYC Hit and Run

Andrew Quinn, 22, was walking to his NYC home when struck by a car on the West Side Highway.

A 22-year-old man from the Morris Plains section of Parsippany was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident early Saturday along the West Side Highway in New York City, according to a report in the New York Post.

At approximately 3 a.m., Andrew Quinn, a 2008 graduate of Parsippany Hills High School, reportedly was crossing West 23rd Street on foot when he was hit by a southbound car that kept going. He was taken to New York's Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

While at Parsippany Hills High, Quinn spent his senior year as class president. Mount Tabor Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Bryan Crawford, who was a friend of the young man, told Patch that Quinn was a member of the school's marching band and also spent time volunteering with District 1 Fire.

Quinn moved on to the Ivy League after high school, graduating last year from Cornell University. After leaving college, his mother, Linda Quinn, told the New York Post, he worked for Tishman Hotel and Realty as a real estate analyst.

The driver has not been found. A New York police investigation, including a search for the motorist, continues.
