Parsippany Man Killed After Tree Crushes Car in Crash
53-year-old drove onto Route 46 median and hit tree at the intersection of Baldwin Road.
A 53-year-old Parsippany man was killed Friday evening after he struck a tree that then fell on his vehicle on the Route 46 median at the intersection of Baldwin Road, Parsippany Police said.
The driver of the Honda Civic was identified as Allen Van Seters, who was transported to St. Clare's Hospital in Denville where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, Parsippany Police said Monday.
According to police, a witness said Van Seters was driving westbound on Route 46 when he drove up the median that separates the highway from the turning lane onto Baldwin Road. The witness said the Civic struck a tree, which then fell onto the vehicle Friday at about 5 p.m., police said.
Officer Alfred Keiser and Det. Edward Conklin were able to move the tree far enough for the Par-Troy EMS to gain access to Van Seters, police said.
The Parsippany Rescue and Recovery unit and Fire Districts 4 and 5 assisted on the scene.
Officer Paul Levi is investigating the cause of the accident. If anyone has information, contact the Parsippany Police Department at 973-263-4300.
This was the second fatal crash in Parsippany in two days. A 23-year-old Lake Parsippany woman was killed when her vehicle crashed on Route 10 near Powder Mill Road Thursday night.

Am I missing something, is this not the same car/tree picture from the car being killed in crash on Friday? Was a man killed in that same crash?

Yes, the news of Mr. Van Seters' tragic death, however, was not released by police until Monday. We only knew that there had been an accident Friday, which is when I took the photo.
