Parsippany Schools Closed Again Monday
Outages remain at several district schools, downed wires and trees also an issue.
Parsippany schools will be closed for a sixth straight day Monday due to outages that remain at several district schools, Superintendent LeRoy Seitz said Sunday.
Downed trees and wires as well as road conditions and the ongoing issue with traffic signals were also factors in the decision, Seitz said.
Decisions for the rest of the week will be made on a day-to-day basis, Seitz said.
Schools are expected to be open on Thursday and Friday, previously days schools were scheduled to be closed for the NJEA State Conference, which has now been cancelled.
Outages dipped to 9,853 in Parsippany late Sunday afternoon, according to JCP&L's outage map.

I guess we should be honored that we still don't have power and that we have never seen a PSE&l truck this whole time. Are we concerned that without use of a sump pump we will have a flooded basement? you bet.
At least the police reports keep us up to date. We are grateful to their conscientious efforts.

We got power back midafternoon yesterday. I could not believe all the people I saw working. One truck working near our home was from Florida. I know that a lot of people need power, electricity and water but our situation is, bottomline, that you can't go faster than 24/7

schabadoo - that's the base model as an example. The "6 hours" is continuous. In my situation - I've never heard the pump run on that basis - more likely a 10 seconds every five minutes - and that has only happened during and extreme sustained rain or shortly thereafter. People with heavier flood potential can do a larger model. In any case it's a better solution IMHO to a generator that needs gas and oil and is overkill for a pump. And it backs up not just for power failure but mechanical failure of the primary pump (which saved us grief once as well).

I think the kids wont have school atleast until Tuesday or Wednesday.... Recovery still in progress..some of the trees are still down...power outages will take days to repair because of such widespread outages in Parsippany....

We feel terrible and support those who have lost or have wrecked homes. We are annoyed and frustrated with our elected officials who have not given updated briefs. We are entitled to present updates and some words from JCP&L. We are concerned with the upcoming weather reports and lack of readiness .
We applaud and praise our fantastic police and sanitation departments without whom we would not have any reports.

I have been watching the area around my home the last several days with wires down, hanging and trees hanging by a string. I seen children out playing and parents walking in the middle of the roads with their children with above problems. This is the day after the storm too. It is time to send the parents back to school.

Governor Christie is busy getting his Halloween costime realy for tonight and has forgotten to inform us that if we are hit with a Nor'easter-type storm, most likely more trees will come down and take out power lines. In addition, Nor'easters can bring heavy rains. Carol might consider a buying a generator to power her sump pump.

Let's not Forget the Fire dept. in town they are doing a Great Job, with Pump out Basements and we still responding to Fire Alarms, Down Power Line and Fallen Trees.
and Lets not forget these 1st responders are Volunteers, and a Lot of them have the same problem with there Homes.

Just toured our powerless neighborhood. South Beverwyck is still out. Large wires down on Smith with NOT a single JCP&L in sight. Can't wait for tomorrow and the Nor'easter.
