Alleged Luring Attempt of Par High Student Reported
District warns parents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.
A notice was sent to parents Thursday, saying a Par High student reported being offered a ride home after school on Wednesday by an unknown man driving a luxury vehicle. The student described the man as between 40 to 50 years old, with black slicked-back hair and a receding hairline, the alert read. The student said the man spoke with a foreign accent and was wearing a black suit and tie with a white shirt, the alert said.
According to a district statement, the student refused the ride and the man drove out of the area.
"Keeping our children safe is always of paramount importance," the statement said. "We urge you to be vigilant in making your children wary of strangers. Please let them know to tell an adult immediately if an incident occurs and to try to get a license number if at all possible."
The district notice advised parents that children should immediately tell what happened to a responsible adult, who should contact Parsippany Police at 973-263-4300.
