Paul Philipps Named Parsippany's New Acting Police Chief

Former Chief Anthony DeZenzo's resignation became effective Friday.

Via an evening announcement on the township's and Parsippany Police Facebook pages, Mayor James Barberio has appointed Deputy Chief Paul Philipps to serve as acting chief of the PPD, following the resignation of former Chief Anthony DeZenzo.

DeZenzo announced his impending departure Feb. 13, and the move became effective Friday.

Neither the mayor, DeZenzo nor Philipps were immediately available for comment.

DeZenzo, who served as chief and head of the Parsippany Office of Emergency Management, was appointed to fill the job after former Chief Michael Peckerman retired about 18 months ago.

The outgoing chief said when he made the resignation announcement that he will take time to relax before deciding his next professional move.

Gee, Scott what does that mean? The guy will already collect his max of 70%. I'm guessing you are just another one who has NO CLUE how the pension works! Maybe you can choose a more lucrative career in your next life....LOL

Carifi won't take this sitting down. I'm sure there's a law suit waiting to be turned in.

Even though we are appoving Paul as the new acting chief he also will leave with a nice pension and gift package from the taxpayers of Parsippany.

Again Mikey, it's not a '"gift package," it's a contractual benefit he is ENTITLED to! Stop blaming others because you chose another career. Any benefit a cop receives is CONTRACTUAL!

Philipps deserves this. Hopefully he can put back together what the last troll undid, not that he actually did anything to begin with.

Mr. gotmore,

Its very apparent that you are connected with Mayor Barberio and his little parrot Milin Shah. Your behavior towards someone family member is reprehensible!! And will only illustrates how desperate you are to cling on to your job. And trust me you shouldn't throw stones in glass houses when it deals with family members. Or maybe you should keep an eyeI on your love ones at the PAL building.

TO MARK MOLNAR:

you state: "you should keep an eyei on your loved ones at the PAL building" .

NO ONE, and i mean NO ONE should have to worry about something happening to their loved ones at the PAL building - that crosses the line.

You have been reported to the FBI for investigation.

All this nastiness on both sides. You would think being elected mayor is like someone handing you the key to run the world!!!

Congratulatons Acting Chief Phillips, hope you will do well with your newly-assumed role. Hope things will turn around for residents who are fed up with a police department with most of the staff behind the desk and less on the roads enforcing laws intended to protect and serve the community.

It is high time for the taxpayers/residents to get town services for which they currently do not receive under this corrupt mayor, his teleprompter township attorney and his buddy former police chief who has done NOTHING for this township.

Congratulations Paul, you are a hard worker and with great dedication. However, you were left real mess on your hands. Hopefully you can transform this lackadaisical department into an effective, aggressive and productive law enforcement agency for which township residents have long deserved and been billed plenty.

But Mike--your obsession with and jealousy of Carifi is transparent, unbecoming, baseless, mind-numbing and useless.

Similar to your buddy Tom Kenol's contention that 100+ township workers will be moving out of town with a Barberio election loss, your rhetoric holds no water and is a fruitless attempt at covering up for an unaccountable town hall lead by our asleep-behind-the-wheel mayor and his gang doing business as "Team Incompetent".

This township could care less what you, Mike, and your disgruntled township worker Tom Kenol thinks about Carifi and this upcomiing election.

Does anyone know what his pay will be and what his pension will be, and what his sick pay, unused vacation payment will be when he retires in 5 years?

Check the internet, with a little research you can find the answer yourself.
