This is a nice article. If anyone is looking to give back to their community via volunteering, the Community Emergency Responce Team (CERT) is a great way to go. For the person who loves their community and does not have a lot of time to devote because of family or work obligations, CERT could be the perfect opportunity for you to give back to your community without having the time consuming obligations that are required for fire, rescue or ambulance volunteers. You would be a valued asset to your neighborhood by volunteering for CERT. Think about it! You will be better equipped to help your community with CERT training, but be in an even better position to help your own family, home and neighbors in time of disaster. This is a great opportunity! Check it out by contacting the Mayors Action Hotline for the Township of Parsippany.

Yes, this truely is a wonderful program. The teen in one of the pictures above wearing an office of emergency management jacket is on the Parsippany CERT team and just one of the wonderful caring people you will meet when you join CERT.

I am a member of CERT and have learned invaluable information and safety guidelines. I am forever grateful to our leaders, past and present. I am thankful I was trained to be able to help my neighbors and give back to our community. I have also made some terrific friends along the way. Mary Giannetti

I have served my town since 1986 as a volunteer on Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad, and then the Lake Hiawatha Fire Department where I had the privelage to serve as Chief. This town has hundreds of volunteers in Fire, EMS & CERT who volunteer 24/7, oddly most of those people already sacrificing their time also volunteer with their church, as Scout Leaders or coaches for the myriad sports programs in town or they are in one of the fine Civic minded organizations like the Rotary, Kiwanis and Elks.

My wife and I grew up in this town, and chose to raise our children here because of people like this. That is the best possible way for me to express my thanks.
