New School Year Begins and Zoning Board Meets This Week

What's happening in Parsippany over the next seven days

 

High schoolers can get an early leg up on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. An SAT Prep Course takes place at Parsippany High School Tuesday at 6 p.m. The course costs $599. A free practice test will be offered at the High as well, and you don't have to take the course to try your hand at the fully-proctored practice SAT, so you can experience what to expect in a test-like environment and learn your individual strengths and weaknesses.

Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors, a free peer-led volunteer support group for people actively looking for work meets Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at the Parsippany-Troy Hills Library, Lake Hiawatha Branch at 68 Nokomis Ave. in Hiawatha.

PSGMC peer support group for job seekers meets Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Parsippany-Troy Hills Free Public Library at 449 Halsey Road to hear guest speakers well-versed in all facets of career search and development.

The Parsippany Zoning Board of Adjustment meets Wednesday to discuss and approve (or deny) residential and commercial building applications. The public is invited to attend. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

Pencils, books and dirty looks are back in business as the 2012-13 school year begins for Parsippany's public schools. Information on the new year can be found on the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education website.

Parsippany Farmers Market takes place this Friday (and every Friday during summer) in the parking lot at Town Hall from 1-7 p.m. Shoppers will find fresh produce and country food products from Stony Hill Farm as well as alpaca wear from Hickory Ridge Alpaca Farm.

They're ba-a-ack with a grudge! The renegade-rules roller derby team the Psycho 78s play a Charity Roller Derby Game Saturday at 5 p.m. at Parsippany Presbyterian Church, 1675 Route 46. 

Try your luck at St. Peter the Apostle Church's Weekly Summer BingoIt's easy to play, you can win prizes and it's free! The event is held Sundays through the summer from 6-10 p.m. at 179 Baldwin Road.
