It's not too early to get started on the nobler aspects of Thanksgiving: Rauchberg Dental Group hosts its 3rd annual Turkey and Food Drive for the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morristown all this week. Non-perishable dry goods can be dropped off anytime until Nov. 16, and the office will also collect frozen turkeys and hams. Student assessment will be one of the topics for Thursday's Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Board of Education meeting. The body will meet for a closed session at 7 p.m., and the regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The gathering takes place at the Board of Education building, 292 Parsippany Road.
Enjoy some early holiday spirit this weekend at the Victorian Craft Fair and Cookie Walk in historic Mt. Tabor. The event presents handicrafts, linens and ornaments with a Victorian flair, plus fill-a-tin cookies. Proceeds benefit the Mt. Tabor Historical Society. Prepare for a thoughtful look at the subject of Zionism when Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin speaks at Congregation Adath Shalom Friday at 7:15 p.m. Rabbi Salkin, author and state director of the Anti-Defamation League, offers a lecture called, "The Z Word, Why Does Zionism Drive The World Crazy?" The discussion, presented by Adath Shalom's Israel Affairs and Continuing Education committees, will focus on the hot button topics of Israel, Zionism and respectful criticism of both. In Parsippany, that takes two forms: The Crossroads Divorce Support Group, a free gathering for divorced men and women of any faith that offers special events, community and healing, is presented at St. Peter the Apostle Church Sunday at 7 p.m. at 179 Baldwin Road. The other group, also offered Sunday at 7 p.m., is called Puzzle Pieces - A Divorced/Separated Support Group. This one is secular and has a fee—just a dollar—and takes place at the Parsippany Police Athletic League Center at 33 Baldwin Road.
