Some Valori Job Offer Claims Confirmed at Town Council
Council president: 'The allegations of bribery are not true.'
A closed-doors meeting was held at Town Hall on Sunday, Jan. 13, to discuss the possibility of creating a job within the Parsippany Police Department, according to Township Council President Brian Stanton. The statement, which came during the public comment question of Tuesday's Town Council meeting, backs up one allegation made by council candidate Dr. Louis Valori.
The town has swirled with unanswered questions and controversy over Valori's charges that Mayor James Barberio and his administration offered to create a public relations job within the police department and took resumes from Valori and Councilman Paul Carifi, who are running on a joint ticket with Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce and council candidate Robert J. Peluso for the primary election.
Valori alleges that the mayor's idea was to find the two retired law enforcement professionals alternate employment so that they would not offer a challenge to Barberio's re-election hopes.
According to Valori, the mayor, Township Attorney John Inglesino and Stanton were in attendance at a nighttime meeting at Town Hall on Jan. 13 to discuss the potential job. Valori contended that Stanton was tasked with surveying his council colleagues to see if they had an interest in supporting the creation of a new police position.
Councilmen Carifi and Jonathan Nelson confirmed to Patch last week that Stanton indeed asked about the possible job and found the idea had little council support. But no Parsippany official alleged to have been in attendance Jan. 13 would answer Patch's questions regarding Valori's contentions, including the matter of whether a secret Sunday meeting indeed took place.
Until Tuesday.
Parsippany resident Pat Petaccia questioned Stanton on whether the meeting occurred.
Stanton answered yes.
"Was Mr. Inglesino there?" she asked.
Stanton replied that the lawyer was there, but in answer to a followup question said he did not know whether or how much Inglesino was paid for working that night.
Petaccia then asked Stanton whether the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the creation of a new position within the police force and whether he, Stanton, was asked to poll the other council members about this new job.
The council president answered in the affirmative.
Petaccia asked if Stanton had asked for Valori's and Carifi's resumes at the meeting. He said no.
"Did you ask them for their resumes as a result of this meeting?"
"Absolutely not," stated Stanton.
Petaccia tried again.
"Did you ask them for their resumes at any time?"
Stanton answered that yes, he did ask the men for their resumes.
The council president later told Patch that he simply was telling the truth. At the same time, he was insistent about one point.
"The allegations of bribery are not true," Stanton said. "There was no bribe."
For his part, Valori asserted that his story is accurate and that time will show that he is telling the truth. He also insisted that he was formally offered a job by the Barberio administration.
Barberio was not in attendance for the meeting, and his absence was noted by many residents. Though the town's chief executive is not required to attend the monthly council gatherings, he usually is present.
Residents also noticed that among the agenda items for the March 19 meeting is a resolution asking the council to consent to the mayor's newest appointment to the town's Municipal Alliance Committee. The proposed new member is Brenda Barberio, who is married to the mayor.
Earlier this year, the mayor sent letters to Louis Valori and Robert Peluso, longtime MAC members, informing them that he was not reappointing them to the committee.

Day 10 and Mayor Barberio continues to hide and hunker down
His political survival comes first and the hell with Parsippany his beloved town
It's all about James R. and his need for power and political survival
As for the residents, they come second as does Parsippany's much delayed economic revival

Though I am not at all a fan of your rhythmic verse and find it extremely juvenile and pointless to make light of what would seem to be a very serious and disturbing situation, I do agree that the Mayors absence last night was very disappointing.

Still no there there. Doesn't matter whether it was "nighttime" or "secret" Stanton confirmed that nothing illegal occurred. If the big story here is that an elected leader met with an erstwhile supporter then big woopy doo.

Publius, Boy Elroy Stanton confirming nothing "illegal" happened proves nothing because he lacks credibility. Bottom line - little boy Elroy blinked while our illustrious, corrupt Mayor and Inglesino remain in hiding. We will likely see more people "recalling" certain events in the near future as the heat is turned up because this mayor and Team Incompetent are as sloppy as they are stupid.

Where there is smoke, there always is fire. I am sure Stanton and others will remember more about this unscrupulous meeting when more parties look deeper into this incident.
I still laugh over this town hall "leader" picking a cop out of all people to bribe and has another cop and a lawyer with him while the deed is done. This is out of an episode of a badly written sitcom, and Parsippany is "blessed" (NOT) to have this character as our mayor.

Let's see now, Carifi and Nelson state they were approached regarding creating these ficticous positions. The Mayor is hiding; Mr. Inglesino is not to be found, Mr. Stanton admits to the meeting. Stanton also admits to the day and timing of the meeting in addition to discussing creating the positions. But there is nothing suspicious or to be seen here!!! Why is Mr. Valori left calling for an investigation by the AG? Shouldn’t our County Prosecutor have already been on this? Shouldn't our Freeholder's have called for an Investigation already in order to either clear or charge the Mayor? Shouldn't the AG have already contacted the County Prosecutor or began an Investigation of his own? Why are all these people not handling this already? It’s been a couple weeks now, there was certainly time.
Remember Parsippany, vote Team Corruption early and often.

Parsippany is really becoming the laughing stock of NJ. First the greedy Superintendent and the School Council Follies, then the Field of Out of Your Mind. Does not surprise me that the mayor is peddling influence.

I am aware that Lou Vallori has alleged he was offered a job in town in return for not running for Council, and that I participated in same. I want the record to be clear, Mr. Vallori's allegations are false. Unfortunately, Mr. Vallori is twisting events and occurrences in order to attempt to make his fantasy seem plausible. Mr. Vallori is obviously making these false allegations because he believes they will help him win in this June's primary. I hope that Mr. Vallori will stop the lies and leave me out of his campaign tactics. I enjoy serving our residents as Council President. The Council and the Mayor are accomplishing good things for our town and I look forward to continuing my work in that regard.

Brian,
You have posted this several times and it feels like your lawyer wrote it. This is not going to inspire confidence. I have met you, and i think you are a nice guy. You need to better than this, why on earth was the supposed position even considered? The PD's current PR efforts are the best i have ever seen. in general you don't change horses when you are winning the race.
I respect the fact you are willing to comment on these stories under your real name, but your answers need a bit more depth than what you say here.

Brian Stanton, get off it. You lack credibility.
No reason to be meeting with someone on a Sunday night at town hall unless you were doing something unscrupulous. So keep telling yourself what you have just written above and with any luck you will be able to convince YOURSELF.
If you, little Brian Staton, think the grilling you got last night from a resident was tough, just wait until the pros take over.

Hey Brian Stanton, if you think you are "serving" Par-Troy residents, you are delusional -- you are NOT doing a good job and thanks to this story, the whole township and state know you are corrupt too.
If Pat Petaccia's interrogation has you soiling in your pants and flapping your gums as much as you did last night -- you are in for a RUDE awakening when more savvy interrogators get a hold of you. Keep spit shining your County Sheriff's badge, cause you may have to part with it when the truth is revealed.

All these fake alias's made by Lou Valori's cronies - hilarious. Brian - thank you for your service as a Officer and your service to Parsippany. M Jarret - Stanton was not flapping his gums, he answered Pat's questions honestly with a simple yes or no, and he made his to the point statement that there was never an offer for a job made to Lou Valori. Now the Parsippany electorate has the opportunity to figure out who's telling the truth - Brian Stanton who has nothing to gain/lose with Valori running in this race or Lou Valori who has everything to lose? Valori is a liar - hope the attorney general looks into the houses he flipped in Parsippany. Mr. Valori - what favors did you do to get homes in Powdermill at significant discounts? Guys - Stanton hasn't even come out and endorsed the Mayor in this campaign, what reason does Brian have to lie? Valori has all the reason to lie. I judge a person by his best friend - and Lou Valori's best friend is Jimmy Vigilante, enough said.

Hey Brian Stanton, after your "I've done nothing wrong" wail posted above, you are definitely the "Jethro Bodine" in this hillbilly lineup. I have no confidence in you and the mayor's clan in serving this town well.
And you, Brian Stanton, should have NO confidence in your "ability" to pull off a successful coverup when the probe is all said and done.

Brian Stanton - ha ha ha ha ha ha to your desperate and worthless attempt at convincing this township you are clean and honest officeholder.
Didn't your Mom ever tell you to hang around smarter people with more integrity. Apparently little boy Elroy was NOT paying attention when Mama doling out the advice.
Like I have said all along, you and your pals Barberio and Inglesino are as sloppy as you are stupid and your post proves my case. Now it will be only a matter of time before the state proves its case.
So "enjoy" "serving" the township boy Elroy-Stanton, I foresee a forced resignation in your future.

Brian Stanton, Pay Careful Attention:
Township residents really need to get rid of you and the mayor -- problematic and rogue town hall "leaders". I shutter to think that you play any part in fiscal planning on behalf of this township when you abandoned your house, forced it into foreclosure, and then take up residency in another section of town. I am sure your old neighbors who sustained a financial hit on their houses' market value feel the same way as I do.
You lack ethics, ability and morals plain and simple. Your statement above does nothing to restore your reputation.
Parsippany taxpayers need to cut these you loose now!

P S.@ Rafki get Brian Stanton off your lap and pay attention.
I challenge you, Rafki, to disprove Stanton's foreclosure game which has cost his old neighbors plenty and taxpayers-at-large too. All you have to do is a simple search. I am confident that someone as gullible as you, Rafki, can successfully ascertain the information.
So despite your fruitless attempts at restoring their reputations, Stanton, Barberio and their buds are cronies. Rafki, you are just drinking Barberio's lie-ladened Kool Aid.

People are going to start bringing popcorn to public meetings. This can't get an weirder. It really and truly can't. After lying to various reporters, the Town Council President is chastised by a resident in a public forum and caves. Then, the same guy goes online and says it never happened. Or, it wasn't what it looked like? Because it sounds pretty bad for all involved and I don't care to vote for anyone who is currently running, so I'm not for or against anyone in particular (well, certainly not "for" at this juncture. AND, the Mayor nominates his wife to a position, after offering "loyalty" jobs to his political challengers and a position for his daughter's boyfriend? If Shakespeare was alive, this would be another convoluted play of truly weird characters.

Parsippany is led by the most corrupt -- I don't know if it is because of the diverse population not voting or keeping up on politics or just the corrupt to the core system here but good taxpayers continue to leave and put their homes up for sale as these crooked worthless pieces of garbage run this town into the ground. About time us taxpayers did our job and held these clowns accountable and vote them out and prosecute the corrupt bunch.

Mr. Stanton, I wish the Mayor and yourself would give credit to the always enjoyable Charles Durning when using one of his film quotes to explain your actions.
Fellow Parsippanyians, I am proudly standing here to humbly see.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don't speak out as plain as day?
And, fellow Parsippanyians, I'm for progress and the flag- long may it fly.
