Vigilante Announces Candidacy for County Clerk
Former Parsippany councilman will take on Freeholder Ann Grossi for GOP nomination.
Another Parsippany candidate has tossed his hat into the ring for the Morris County Clerk's job.
U.S. Air Force Reserves Master Sgt. and former Township Council member James Vigilante Monday announced today that he will seek the seat being vacated by Joan Bramhall in the June 4 Republican primary election.
Among the challengers he will face is fellow Par-Troy resident and Freeholder Ann Grossi.
“I would consider it a privilege and honor to serve my fellow county residents as their county clerk," said Vigilante. "My military leadership and organizational skills combined with my governing and small business ownership experience is the perfect combination the next clerk needs to possess to pick up where Clerk Bramhall left off.”
Vigilante is a longtime local contractor. He also has a long history working for Parsippany. He served 12 years on the Parsippany Township Council, most recently serving for several months after former Councilman John Cesaro's move to the Morris County Board of Select Freeholders. He is a nine-time decorated U.S. Air Force Reserves veteran and recently completed a tour of duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan. During his time in Afghanistan, according to Vigilante, he was responsible for leading a large squadron of airmen in the day to day operations at the Kandahar Airport and ensuring that soldiers and civilian contractors traveled safely in and out of the country.
He paid tribute to the efficiency of Bramhall's office and said his skills make him uniquely qualified to ensure an office that continues to be well-run.
"The reins need to be handed to a person who has led and motivated a team of people in an operational system—and I have," he said, alluding to his experience as a procurer during his time in Afghanistan. "I will improve upon the efficiencies of the clerk's office and I will insure that the honorable workers in that office continue to have the tools and resources they need to deliver the services to the people of Morris County.
"These improvements will contribute to the goal of the county freeholders in delivering a reduced tax budget," Vigilante promised. "I will get the job done for less.”
Vigilante said he will hold an official campaign kick-off event and release his political platform sometime in March.

Isn't this the guy who was once on the Parsippany Council in Parsippany who told Parsippany Residents "If you don't like the taxes in town then move out!" - Here's another member from Team "all about me me me": Carifi, Valori, Peluso, and Vigilante - This gets funnier by the week.

If the "Bug man" can throw his hat into the ring, I too would like a shot at the job. At least I have a college education....

Don't worry... I'm sure you will see plenty of him exploting his position as a reservist in a pathetic attempt to get votes.

Really?? You got to be kidding? This guy is not qualified just like the current, crooked,
"I will appoint anyone with a dark past to get more votes" Parsippany Mayor.
Parsippany is sick of the bull, and I hope the voters will send both these men home for good.

The Neanderthals are a now-extinct species [now open for debate thanks to Jim Vigilante] or subspecies of the genus Homo that is closely related to modern humans. They are known from fossil specimens, dating from the Pleistocene period, that have been found in Europe and parts of western and central Asia.

This is not an option. I wouldn't vote for him if he were the last candidate to live on earth.

It is one thing to discuss his candidancy and whether he is the right person for the position, but to not disparage his time as a Reservist serving this country is just wrong. He volunteered for us as Americans and risked his life in countries where others have been killed. Question his candidancy, not patriotism. His reference to his military background and its value to leadership role within clerk office is a reference that has merit.

Let's keep it going:
Vigilant: Will that gentleman who differs with me please stand up and tell the audience what he has ever done for the good of the city?"
"Well, Mr.Vigilante," the man said in a firm voice. "I voted against you in the last election."
Fellow citizens of Parsippany ,let's not quit now.

The All Seeing Eye -- Hell no, Vigilante is not any better! You've got to have your "All Seeing Eye" checked out, there may be a cataract in it.
Vigilante is cut from the same "boob" cloth as the incompetent town hall "losers all" leader Barberio, his cousin Vinny and "Boy-Elroy" Stanton (and after the newly weakened Parsippany ordinance law throw dePierro on that list).

I hope as you sat and made a fool of yourself behind your computers, you all realized you had the freedom to do so because unselfish men and women who had integrity and morals gave unselfishly of themselves so you could have that right.Mr Vigilante shows concern for his town and his country already, he has my vote to further help us as county clerk, Semper Fi

Are any of you so called watch dogs aware. That Boob hall had the first reading on putting the whole township into a company that buys electric at a cheap rate .Without any input to the residents. I guess we have had our right of free choice taken away by vote seeking bunglers. "Come June it's Adios the broom of change will sweep clean.

In the 6/17/11 Parsippany Life article Vigilante states that "While in Afghanistan, [he] will be in charge of loading and unloading personnel, products and vehicles from cargo aircraft..." In the current article, Vigilante claims that "During his time in Afghanistan, he was responsible for leading a large squadron of airmen in the day to day operations at the Kandahar Airport and ensuring that soldiers and civilian contractors traveled safely in and out of the country." Honesty or Chicanery?

Before I rant, let me just say I don't have my support thrown in any specific direction here or behind any specific candidates, however for all of you constantly railing against the current Mayor, council members, and those running for office (and the BOE members as well) perhaps you can come up with a better solution than name calling and asking for these folks to be kicked/voted out of office. Perhaps you have a better candidate you can convince to run. Perhaps YOU could run since so many of you seem to think the decisions these folks have to make are so simple and easy. Be careful what you all wish for-you might end up with exactly what you think you actually want.

Now this is getting ridiculous with the name calling and insinuations by Barberio, Ferrara & Shah crew. So they have taken to calling the opposing Republican ticket of Carifi, Valori & Peluso “Team Greed”? Based on what I have to ask. The fact they have worked their required time and now collect their pensions? Is this the greed you three speak of? Mayor Barberio, Councilman Ferrara are you giving up your salaries or your medical benefits? Are any of your friends and family working for free? That’s a nice truck you’re driving as well mister Mayor. I thought you guys waiting and only called the Democrats by insulting names when they oppose you in a General Election. Perhaps you three need a Team nickname as well. How about Team Nepotism? (There seems to be quite a few friends and family on the town payroll). Or Team Status Quo? (You don’t seem to be for improving much for the town, we need many more strips malls). Team Hypocrisy has a nice ring to it. (I don’t even need to explain this one huh). Maybe even Team Pay and Play (Friends, family and allies can always count of building permits or re-zoning right guys?)
Here’s an intriguing idea, stick to the facts, inform us of what you want to accomplish and let the voters decide whose ideas they prefer? I’m not really sold on anyone on these tickets, except for one guy, however the Barberio tickets attacks don’t make me want to vote that way.
