When Parsippany lost its Blockbuster Video franchise at 796 Route 46, it wasn't alone.
With the move from traditional brick-and-mortar retail film rental operations to online movie options such as streaming video and services like Redbox, branches of the chain are vanishing like box-office bombs all across the country.
Whatever the reason, the Arlington Plaza building stands empty—and that is not good for the township. And the former Blockbuster building is not the only vacancy in the shopping center.
Filling the empty anchor space likely would give the retail complex a boost. Right now, merchants big and small can be found at the Plaza, including Home Depot, Emiliani Beauty Supplies, Staples, Marty's Shoes and the International House of Pancakes.
So what do you think would work for the space? Tell us what you would like to see fill Blockbuster's old retail space in the comments. We will take your suggestions and pass them along to the man with whom the buck stops, Mayor James Barberio.
