Woman Kicked in Head in Diner Fight, Police Say

Verbal dispute leads to physical altercation at Empire Diner early Sunday morning.

An early Sunday morning brawl broke out at the Empire Diner, resulting in a woman being kicked in the head, according to Parsippany Police.

At about 2:45 a.m., an apparent verbal dispute turned into a physical altercation as an unknown number of people traded blows, Officer Earl Kinsey said.

Kinsey said that by the time township police arrived at the scene, the fight was over and the participants had departed.

Officers from Boonton and Montville were also called to the scene, Kinsey said.

Only one person was injured—a woman who said she was kicked in the head during the altercation, Kinsey said. However, she declined medical treatment, he said.

According to Kinsey, there were no arrests and no serious damage to the diner.

What in the heck is going on with Parsippany lately? Has there been an upswing in murders, robberies, crime in general over the past few months? This is getting surreal.

it is the sign of the times. there are going to be alot more violence due to the crumbling economy. people are turning to mind altering drugs to cope with their financial woes and this is the type of thing that will happen. outbursts, robberies, killings. When you are out in public be wary and walk with you eyes on the horizons.

Really?? Needed back up from TWO TOWNS for a diner fight where the participants left before Parsippany Police arrive? How many other times do we borrow officers from out of town to offset the understaffing of patrol officers and detectives? I am sure this is just one skeleton in the closet the Police Department and Municipal government work hard on hiding from residents and taxpayers.

Parsippany Police definitely needs more "boots-on-the-ground" officers on patrol and staffed in the detective bureau and less of them pushing pencils before rushing off to promotion ceremonies and luncheons.

Not shocked by this story one bit. The rash of stories further supports the need for this department to reorganize and effectively PROTECT AND SERVE the residents and taxpayers who pay them.
