Woman Struck and Killed By Car on Route 46
Parsippany Police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office are investigating incident.
A 38-year-old woman was struck and killed Thursday night on Route 46 near the Burger King and the intersection of Baldwin Road, police said.
According to Sgt. Yvonne Christiano, the woman was walking from the east to west side of Route 46 when she was struck by a vehicle shortly before 8 p.m. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Christiano said. The woman's identity was not immediately released, pending the outcome of the investigation, Christiano said.
The woman was struck by a 2008 Nissan operated by a 34-year-old Bayonne man, who was traveling westbound on Route 46, Christiano said. The man's identity was also not immediately released, pending the outcome of the investigation.
A portion of Route 46 was closed Thursday night as police investigated the incident.
Christiano said the accident remains under investigation by the Parsippany Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
