Worker Threatened at Knifepoint During Gas Station Robbery, Police Say
Authorities are seeking two men who they say got away with $151.
An employee of the Parsippany Gulf gas station on Route 46 was bound and robbed at knifepoint while at work on Wednesday night, according to police.
Police said the attendant was approached at about 9 p.m. by what he described as a young Hispanic man while standing outside of an open garage bay at the station, police said.
Police said the attendant reported the man had short black hair and was wearing a red shirt, blue pants and a black bandanna over the bottom of his face.
According to police, the attendant said the man walked into the garage said he needed a gas can. The attendant reportedly followed the man, who turned around and grabbed the attendant by the arms, police said.
At this point, police said, a second Hispanic man, described as being young with short black hair, a goatee and wearing a black shirt and blue pants, entered and closed the garage door. The suspects bound the attendant's hands and feet with duct tape, police said, and one reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened the gas station worker. The other suspect tore off the front pocket of the victim’s pants and removed $151 in cash, police said.
The two men fled the area through the front door of the gas station, where police said they were spotted by an employee arriving at the business.
The suspects were seen running toward the I-287 ramp on Littleton Road, police said.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigative Division responded to process the scene while one of their K-9 units assisted Parsippany Police in tracking the men.
Police said officers were not able to locate the men in the area and believe that they may have fled in a vehicle parked on the Littleton spur.
Detectives from the PPD’s Investigative Division are conducting an ongoing probe into the incident.
