Wyndham Worldwide Named Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality
The national Human Rights Campaign gives Parsippany company a perfect score on its Corporate Equality Index.
Parsippany-based Wyndham Worldwide, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, is being recognized as one of the nation's Best Places to Work for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality. That's according to the Human Rights Campaign, a Washington, D.C., civil rights organization.
HRC gave Wyndham a perfect score of 100 on the group’s Campaign’s annual Corporate Equality Index. The CEI is considered the premiere national benchmark for LGBT workplace inclusion and provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to LGBT employees.
Wyndham, which operates out of 22 Sylvan Way, was one of 252 firms achieving the top rating, according to HRC, which rated 889 U.S. businesses overall.
The CEI rates companies on 40 specific policies and practices. To achieve a perfect score and the distinction of Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality, companies must have fully-inclusive equal employment opportunity policies, provide equal employment benefits, demonstrate organizational LGBT competency, publicly declare their commitment to equality and exercise "responsible citizenship."
The news was well-received by the company.

Wyndham offers a diversity and inclusion program that focuses on supporting associates of all backgrounds, according to Falvey. The company sponsors groups that promote professional development, engagement and inclusion where associates with common interests share ideas and experiences. Associate business groups at Wyndham currently include WYNPride (LGBT), ¡Fuerte! (Hispanic), Spectrum (African American, I-VOW (veterans) and Women on Their Way.
“We are proud of this recognition by the Human Rights Campaign, and will continue to cultivate a global workforce where individuals from all types of backgrounds, with different experiences and viewpoints, are valued,” said Diversity and Inclusion Vice President Tiziana Sullivan. “In a global marketplace, it is essential that we understand, value, and incorporate our differences in an open, supportive environment.”
The HRC honor is not the first acknowledgement of Wyndham's stated commitment to equality and inclusion. The firm has been named among the Top 25 Noteworthy Companies by Diversity Inc., ranked among LATINA Style's top 50 companies, included as one of the top 100 companies by Working Mother magazine and among the top 50 companies by the National Association of Female Executives.
