It’s been a rough start to the season for the Parsippany High football team, with losses to Kittatinny and Wallkill Valley both highlighted by the Red Hawks’ inability to find the end zone. While the Parsippany offense continued to struggle in Friday’s 32-0 loss to Kittatinny, there was one shining light, which came in the form of linebacker Adam Mansur. Mansur stepped up in a big way on Friday night, recording 10 tackles (two for loss), two sacks and forcing two fumbles. And despite his teams’ struggles, head coach Mike Adams acknowledged Mansur’s terrific play on the field. “He had a strong…
Junior Katie Schnabel has flaunted her speed all season on the diamond for the Parsippany Hills softball team, but in Saturday’s 7-6 win over Columbia, Schnabel displayed her “clutch gene” as she went 3-for-3, including a game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning, driving in both the tying and winning runs for the Vikings’ eighth win of the season. With Columbia leading 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Schnabel stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and hit fly ball to center field that plated the game tying run. An errant throw from the Columbia center fielder …
After starting the season winless through four games, the Parsippany High baseball team has taken noticeable strides, improving its record to .500 at 11-11. The Red Hawks continued its surge last Tuesday, as senior pitcher Clayton Cerrato led the Red Hawks to one of their biggest wins of the season, throwing seven scoreless innings and helping Parsippany to its first Mayor’s Cup victory over Parsippany Hills, 6-0. Under the lights at Smith Field, Cerrato struck out 12, while allowing just four hits and no runs. Cerrato didn’t only dominate on the mound, though, as he went 2-for-3 at the plate…
The Parsippany Hills softball team secured wins in two of three games last week, sandwiching a 3-0 loss to Pope John in between wins over Morristown and Morris Hills. During that time, starting pitcher Molly Hoyt has emerged as a main cog in the Par Hills’ success as she held Morristown and Morris Hills to a combined five hits and one run, while striking out seven and locking down wins Nos. four and five for the Vikings. Even in Par Hills’ loss to Pope John, Hoyt, who head coach Chrissy Russell referred to as a "a natural-born leader on and off the field," was effective as she allowed just …
It’s been a tough season so far for the Parsippany Hills baseball team, but one thing that remains constant is the team's relentless nature to continue battling. This past week saw Par Hills drop four of five games, with the lone win coming in a Morris County Tournament preliminary-round matchup against Kinnelon High. But even with four losses, junior C.J. Joyce’s hot hitting has stood out. The Par Hills catcher has reached base safely in each of the past five games, recording seven hits and five stolen bases, while driving in six runs. Against Chatham High—an 8-6 loss on Wednesday—Joyce was …
The Parsippany High baseball team had a slow start to the season, but lately the Red Hawks have hit a groove as senior Troy Hance has helped lead them to three straight wins, improving their record to 4-5 this season. First, Hance had a hand in all four Parsippany runs, as the Red Hawks stopped cross-town rival Par Hills, 4-1. The Parsippany senior connected on a three-run home run, had two runs scored and one walk. But the senior wasn’t done as he helped lead Parsippany to an 11-4 win over Boonton, going 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs scored and one RBI, helping the Red Hawks to …
While the Parsippany High School softball team has gotten off to a slow start to the season with a 2-4 record so far, one bright spot has been senior center fielder Kelsey Principe. With a bevy of underclassmen on the roster, the Red Hawks need everything they can get from the senior captain, and thus far, Principe has delivered. Principe did her best last week to help her team, and despite dropping a tough one to Whippany Park, the senior again put up some impressive numbers. The Parsippany leadoff batter went 2-for-2 with two singles, recording the Red Hawks only two hits in the game. She …
The Parsippany Hills High School baseball team got off to a slow start this season, with losses in its first three games. But the Vikings’ explosive offense, led by junior shortstop Mike Comerford, got Par Hills on the winning track in a big way as the Vikings pounded Kittatinny High for 20 runs on Saturday. Comerford, who head coach Ray Santana boasted about before the start of the regular season, was a key factor in the Vikings' 20-6 win, going 5-for-5 with three doubles and five RBIs. The Par Hills junior wasn’t just a force at the plate, though, as he terrorized Kittatinny on the base …
The end of any season is hard, and the same goes for the Parsippany High School girls basketball season ending 58-53 loss in the North Jersey Section 2, Group II semifinals to West Essex. But not to fret fans, because there is something to look forward to for next year. That something (or someone)  is sophomore guard Ashley Burroughs. Burroughs lit up the scoreboard late in the season, recording double-digit scoring performances in each of the Red Hawk's three playoff games. First, the sophomore helped fifth-seeded Parsippany to a 48-32 win over No. 12 Lincoln High (15-10), a game that the …
For the last quarter of the regular season, the Parsippany High School boys basketball team has been on a tear, winning six straight heading into the state tournament. After winning only four games in the first three quarters of the season, senior forward Michael Ross has helped Parsippany work to a respectable 10-13 record, as they head into a North Jersey Section 2, Group II state playoff game against Newark Central (24-5) on Monday. During the Ross-led Red Hawks' most recent wins, in which they have stopped Whippany Park, Butler and Lakeland Regional, Parsippany has looked even more …
This past week was a productive one for Parsippany High School point guard Kayla Picinich as the senior leader helped the Red Hawks basketball team to two wins, including the team's 10th victory of the season. On Tuesday, Picinich helped Parsippany to a 62-27 thrashing over Dover High as the senior guard ran up 14 points to go along with eight rebounds and six steals. The Parsippany win came just days after the Red Hawks dropped a tough 46-40 decision to Pequannock High in which Picinich tallied 12 points. Two days prior to the loss to Pequannock, the Parsippany captain added another double-…
