IMPORTANT HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS FOR YOUR HOME!

Here are some great tips on keeping your home and trick-or-treaters “trick” free this Halloween!

1. Keep Your Walkway Clear!

Before Halloween day even arrives, make sure the sidewalks, walkways and front steps are clear of any branches, rocks, lawn equipment, garbage cans, toys and any other item trick-or-treaters could trip over.

 2.  Remove Any Dangerous Decorations!

Even though pitchforks, shovels and other real household items look more authentic in the Halloween display, they are dangerous!  Use the plastic and lightweight decorations without sharp points and edges instead. It might not look as real, but Halloween is about creativity and imagination anyway!

3.  Light the Way!

Turn on the entry and landscape lighting to light the way to the front door! Make sure string lights are securely in place and the cord is not running across anyone’s path.  Give your own children flashlights to help light their way!

4.  The Pumpkin!

Everyone loves a lit Jack-O-Lantern Halloween night!  LED votives (also called flameless candles) are the best light to use inside a carved pumpkin.  They come in all sizes from tea lights to pillars and even have a realistic flicker! This way, no one knocks over a lit candle and burns the house down or themselves!

5.  Hide the Cat!

The dog, bunny and bird too!  People may like to be scared on Halloween, but pets don’t! They can become agitated by all the children or escape out the door! We also don’t want them to become the victim of any mischief. Keep them safe behind closed doors such as the bedroom or bathroom.

Halloween can be scary, but let’s keep it from being dangerous! Wishing everyone a SAFE and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
