5 Things to Know This Week

Info and events for the upcoming half-fortnight

There is much on tap in and around Parsippany -Troy Hills for this first full week of December. From civic meetings to holiday events, only diehard couch potatoes will have any time for sitting around. 

  1. Because Christmas comes in just a couple of weeks, municipal bodies are getting their meetings in early. Hence Tuesday's scheduled —yes, even though the panel just met last week, its members will convene an agenda meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers at Town Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
  2. The township's  is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall. According to an advance agenda, the body will discuss a requested variance for towing company in Intervale and potential signage for an Edwards Road sports training school.
  3. We're talking sleigh bells and ho ho ho, and yet it's time to sign up your kid for little league baseball! In-person registration for the  spring 2012 season takes place 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the building, 33 Baldwin Road.   4. This Saturday at 7 p.m. hosts a very special event: The Temple’s own Cantor, Inna Serebro-Litvak, performs in “Music for the Heart.” The concert will feature the soprano with pianist Iouri Grichetchkine piano and Adrian Danrov on cello.   5. This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, prepare to be moved.   in Parsippany presents its 22nd annual Live Nativity from 4:30-8 p.m. The event includes a reading of the Nativity story framed within the poem of “One Solitary Life” by James Allen Francis. The idea is to imagine the work being read beneath the deep blue starry night sky of the hillside of Bethlehem.  Admission to the event, refreshments will be served and the gift of an ornament will be given to each small group attending.  Visitors are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Parsippany Emergency Food Pantry if they are able. St. Andrew is at 335 Reynolds Ave. For more information, call 973 887-6713 or go to www.elcaAndy.org.
