5 Things to Know This Week

Parsippany events and activities that should be on your calendar

Welcome to a new week! Here are a few happenings coming to Parsippany this week to keep you in the know:

  1. If you are a seasoned citizen in need of getting your blood pressure checked, here's your chance to have it done for free. The holds its  event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Friday and again on Monday, Nov. 21. The event is organized by the township's Human Services Office at the center, 1130 Knoll Road.   2. Project Graduation is underway. gets things started with an opportunity for your to make money while helping the high school's senior class. PHHS holds a Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the high school, 20 Rita Drive. At the event, you can bring your unwanted gold or silver (single earrings and broken or tangled chains are great!) and exchange it for case. A portion of the funds raised goes to help Project Graduation. Information is available by sending email to phhspro­ggrad12@­aol.­com.
  3. The ladies of Alpha Delta Kappa, the educators' service sorority wants to get you into the holiday shopping spirit. At 4 p.m. Thursday, the group holds its annual , an opportunity for you to start your buying for Christmas and Hannukkah while supporting the ADK Scholarship Fund and local female entrepreneurs. Do some holiday shopping and support women and children in our area! The event takes place at the building at 33 Baldwin Road.
  4. It's time for the annual Mount Tabor . The free event starts Friday at the Bethel at 26 Simpson Ave. You'll find another holiday shopping opportunity here: handicrafts, collectibles, vintage jewelry, ornaments with a Victorian flair, fill-a-tin cookies and more will be on sale. On Friday, the sale runs from 5pm to 8pm; it continues 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds  benefit the Mount Tabor Historical Society.   5. Come on hear the . At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the reform congregation presents an adults-only event featuring music, dancing and food. Music from the American Bandstand era will be performed live at the Temple, 879 South Beverwyck Road. The show filled with singers and musicians covers sounds from the 1950s through the 1980s. A dinner and dessert table is included. BYO beer and wine- adults only, casual dress. Tickets are $25 per person. For reservations contact Rich Cantor at richcan111@gmail.com or call 973-541-1600.
