5 Things You Can't Do in Parsippany

It's the biggest meme du jour on Twitter.

All over Twitter today, people are immersed in a brand-new meme: 5 Things You Can't Do. That got us to thinking: What things can one not do in Parsippany-Troy Hills?

1. You can't set off fireworks. All consumer fireworks are illegal for purchase or use in New Jersey. The good news is that you can watch professionals present a marvelous fireworks display at Parsippany Hills High School Monday evening.

2. You can't even think about building anything more than two stories high. If you are a developer and you envision that sort of a project, think again or get ready for heartbreak.

3. You can't complain that you can't find good pizza. There are more than 53,000 people in Parsippany and literally dozens of pizza places to serve them. And much of the pizza we've tried has been absolutely delicious. Mangia--there is no excuse not to.

4. You can't go to a stand-alone, sit-down Starbucks. The good news is that you can find lovely fancy coffee spaces in the township that, in terms of quality, keep pace quite nicely with the Seattle-based coffee chain. You can even find a mini-Starbucks within the Stop and Shop supermarket at Littleton Road and Route 10. But if you must have a full-service, sti-down 'Bucks, you'll have to drive to Denville, East Hanover or Florham Park.

5. You can't go to Chevy's Restaurant. Yet. The eatery is still in the process of obtaining the necessary permits to repair the massive damage done by a grease fire that burned the place in May. There is no word on when the Tex-Mex restaurant will reopen its doors, but according to construction workers there, it will, and a lot of people are working to make it happen sooner rather than later.
