Craftsman Farms Presents 'Stylish' New Exhibit
New installation showcases fashion trends of the early 1910s that helped shape the nation politically, socially and economically.
A fashionable new exhibit is now open at Parsippany's . Saturday was the launch day for “Styling an American Family: The 1910s at Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Farms.”
The exhibition features clothing, hats, wigs and accessories from the early 20th century worn by mannequins and allows guests to see the human form in Craftsman Farms' Log House as it may have looked from 1911-13 when the Stickley family lived there.
The items on display were furnished by Syracuse University's Sue Ann Genet Costume Collection. The installation consists of 35 mannequins that represent an upper middle class American family of that period. They are shown in nine vignettes that recreate particular moments of everyday life, including “Motoring,” “Visiting,” “Wedding,” “Music,” “Entertainment at Home” and “After the Party.”
