Get Out: A Day for Daniel, A Weekend for You

What good is sitting alone in your room?

Another work week is coming to a close, which means yet another weekend lies ahead just bursting with possibility. If you have no clue how best to spend the time, Get Out is here to steer you through the next four days. One event of note:  "A Day for Daniel" takes place Sunday at 2 at Lake Hiawatha's Mount Holleran Towne Tavern. Check out a great way to get social and to use the day of rest to do some good for a family in need.

Masala Bhangra Fitness Classes

Create Your Own Mosaic Trivet

Why Go: You're feeling creative.

Read to a Dog
When/Where: Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Madison Public Library, 39 Keep St.
Why Go: So kids can build confidence and vocabulary while reading to licensed therapy dogs.
Cost: Free, registration required.

When/Where: Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, 240 Southern Blvd.
Why Go: You won't want to be missing musician John Waite at all when he performs as part of the Sanctuary Concert Series.

A Day for Daniel
When/Where: Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mount Holleran Towne Tavern, 450 N. Beverwyck Road, Parsippany
Why Go: To help defray medical expenses of 16-year-old Daniel Gaudreau, who suffered severe brain damage after a terrible asthma attack Sept. 1, 2008
Cost:  $20 and cash bar

Steve Abrams Workshop for Puppetry Enthusiasts
When/Where: Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Library of the Chathams, 214 Main St., Chatham
Why Go: The well-known performer of "Puppets Inside Out" shares his expertise in this hour-long workshop.
Cost: $2/Free for Garden State Puppetry Guild members

NJ Jazz Society Presents Guitarist Al Caiola at Shanghai Jazz
When/Where: Sunday at 3 p.m. at Shanghai Jazz Restaurant & Bar, 24 Main St., Madison
Why Go: Because Al Caiola worked as a leader and sideman with Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, Buddy Holly and Tony Bennett
Cost: $10 cover/$10 food and beverage minimum
