Your weekend to-do list

It has been a long week, and you have earned a weekend of entertaining or edifying diversions. Happily, this edition of Get Out features a wide variety of things to do, from a performance by the golden throat of the Guess Who to summer camp fun in January for the little kids to a night of comedy right here in Parsippany. You have no excuse this weekend: Get out of the house.


When/Where: Friday at 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown
Why Go: You're a fan of the former lead singer of the Guess Who.

When/Where: Saturday at 8 a.m. from Marty's Reliable Cycle, 173 Speedwell Ave., Morristown
Why Go: Just because it's winter doesn't mean you're hibernating!
Cost: Free

Where/When: Saturday at 9:30 a.m. , 116 Hillcrest Road, Warren
Why Go: Kids 3-6 years old can enjoy a day of summer camp fun in January, with games, sports, crafts, cooking and music.

Where/When: Saturday at 10 a.m. at 243 Route 46, Parsippany
Why Go:  Traditional forms of exercise just won't do.
Cost: $8 

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m., , 55 Main St., Chatham
Why Go: Because modern dads are hands-on dads: Michael Worth, Ph.D., a developmental psychologist, hosts this play date to help new fathers be actively involved with their children. Kids from 7 days to 1 year are welcome, including twins and premature babies.
Cost: $10


Where/When: Saturday at noon,  First Baptist Church of Madison, 34 Cook Ave., Madison
Why Go: The Church's Women's Ministry's annual dinner offers a choice of lasagna or spaghetti along with a generous helping of fellowship.

When/Where: Saturday, 6:30 p.m., American Legion Post 279, 133 Main St., Lincoln Park
Why Go: To enjoy beefsteak, beverages, tricky tray and music by Farmer Phil Band in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. Adrian Simone, a  graduate

When/Where: Saturday at 7 p.m. at  building, 33 Baldwin Road, Parsippany
Why Go: To enjoy adults-only beverages and family-friendly humor while supporting the PAL's work for youth
Cost: $55; purchase via Paypal


When/Where: Art exhibit on display any open hours at the Bernardsville Public Library, 1 Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville, and at Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery in Bernardsville, with the show to last at both locations through Jan. 27.
Why Go: To view scenes from the Great Swamp in Basking Ridge and beyond as portrayed by 25 artists from the Somerset Hills, Morris County and other areas of the state in multiple medium, and to honor one of our natural wonders.

When/Where: Sunday at 11 a.m. at Marty's Reliable Cycle, 173 Speedwell Ave., Morristown
Why Go: Because you love chocolate, you love the NJ Youth Chorus, you love Marty (admit it, it's the 'stache).
