Hurricane Irene: 5 Ways to Help Patch and Parsippany

Everyone has a role to play in getting through the storm.

As the situation surrounding Hurricane Irene rolls on, we at Patch are committed to keeping Parsippany informed and building community. Here are five ways you can help.

  1. If you are involved with a business or organization with a scheduled event that is being postponed or cancelled due to the impending storm, please let us know about it. Send the info to natalie.davis@patch.com: We need to know who you are, the business or organization's name and address, information about the event and a contact number so that we can verify the details.
  2. If you have storm-related info or news, please feel free to let us know that too. You can send email or phone me at 908-230-6249.
  3. Have storm-related photos you want to share? Send them via email with your name and info about what is pictured.
  4. If you want to share your ideas, thoughts or feelings before, during or after Irene, post them in comments below and dialogue with your neighbors. Who knows? Your words could comfort someone who's scared or stop someone from feeling lonely in the midst of the storm. If you can get online, you have community here at Parsippany Patch.
  5. Stay safe. Follow the advice of authorities looking out for our safety during the storm: Make sure you have necessary provisions such as food, water, a radio and batteries. Avoid dangerous areas and stay inside when instructed to do so. And make sure elderly loved ones and neighbors are OK. We want to make sure you are safe and healthy so you can join us on Patch once the storm has passed!
