Hurricane Sandy: Parsippany Closings, Cancellations

Hurricane Sandy's trek up the east coast means a number of closings, cancellations and postponements in Parsippany. This list will be updated with new information as it comes in.

Government, Libraries & Schools

Township offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday due to hazardous travel conditions. All non-essential personnel are asked to stay home.

The township says there will be  Monday or Tuesday.

Parsippany Main Post Office on Route 46 will close at 2 p.m.; service window at 1:30 p.m.

Lake Hiawatha Post Office on North Beverwyck Road will close at 1:30 p.m.

New Jersey State Offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy.

Morris County government offices, including the Morris County Courthouse, will be closed Monday for all non-essential personnel. All essential personnel must report.

Parsippany Public Schools are closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Parsippany Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday at Mt. Tabor Elementary School has been cancelled.

All Saints Academy will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Parsippany Library System, which includes the main branch, the Lake Hiawatha location, and the Mt. Tabor satellite, will be closed Monday. 

Parsippany Child Day Care Center will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Baby Boot Camp classes scheduled for Monday at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. are cancelled.

Transportation

All DeCamp Bus Line commuter buses are cancelled for Monday.

Organizations

The Police Athletic League of Parsippany-Troy Hills will be closed Monday and Tuesday due to the hurricane.

The Lakeland Youth Symphony in Boonton has cancelled its Tuesday orchestra rehearsals.

Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors, the jobseekers' support group, has cancelled its Tuesday meeting.

Events

The Parsippany Patch Candidates' Debate scheduled for Monday is postponed until Friday. The event runs from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Lake Parsippany Clubhouse, 701 Lake Shore Drive.

The library's Haunted Transportation program will be rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Businesses

All Clearview Cinemas locations, including the Clearview Parsippany 12 Cinema, will be closed on Monday.

Eric Moss of Eric Moss Fitness in Pine Brook tells clients that if they wish to go forward with prescheduled workouts, call or text him in advance at 973-476-5328.

Massage Envy Spa Parsippany will be closed Monday.

Tax Depot LLC on Route 46 will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

Lake Hiawatha Laundromat is closed Monday.

White Stone Cleaners will be closed Monday.

The Spa Restaurant is closed, as the sign says on its front door, "because of Sandy."

The Denville Starbucks locations on Route 10 and Main Street are closed Monday.

Shop Rite of Parsippany will close at 4 p.m. Monday and will be closed all day Tuesday.

Anytime Fitnessin Morris Plains is open to members, but will close if the power goes out.

Greenhill Liquors in Green Hill Plaza on Parsippany Road has closed up shop early due to the storm.
