Liberty Travel Gets Holiday Spirit to Help Kids and Pets

Parsippany business holds two donation drives to show its staffers' giving spirit.

Liberty Travel Parsippany appears to have a big burst of holiday spirit. The agency is working on two initiatives to give back to the community for the Hanukkah-Christmas season.

Team Leader Chris Hanna told Patch that the first effort is a holiday pet supplies drive to benefit the Parsippany Animal Shelter.

"All of the staff at Liberty Travel Parsippany are animal lovers, and so we’ve decided this year that we’d like to collect pet food/supplies to help the animals at the shelter," Hanna said. "The shelter provides a home to animals who don’t have any people to call their own, and relies on donations to help feed and house them. As our thank you, we will be giving a $25 coupon off of a future trip for all donations and will be accepting them until Dec. 15."

Hanna said Liberty Travel also is doing its part to help needy children have a great holiday by helping Toys for Tots. Partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps and the North Jersey Jeep Club, Liberty is accepting drop-offs of new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 8. The playthings will be distributed to children in need.

"As our thank you, we will be giving a $25 coupon off of a future trip for all donations," said Hanna. "In 60-plus years of doing business, the company has always had a philosophy of getting involved and being a part of the communities in which our stores are located in.  New Jersey is not only where we have our store, but is also home to our company’s headquarters and 30 additional Liberty Travel locations."

Charity is nothing new for Liberty Travel, according to the team leader.

"While this is the first year that we are taking on these particular initiatives at this branch, Liberty Travel has donated to Toys for Tots for many years across a number of our 159 locations," said Hanna. "In past years our store did something similar for a local food pantry.  And many of our sister stores rally around causes that are near and dear to them and/or the towns in which they operate."

And the Parsippany resident said Liberty staffers are all in for the good works.

"Our team loves to support and give back to the community in which we work, and which some of us call home," said Hanna. "Our team here happens to be animal lovers, so the connection to Parsippany Animal Shelter felt like a natural fit and something that we could all embrace and be passionate about. These initiatives are great morale boosters for the team and gets everyone in the spirit of giving around this holiday season.

"Our clients also enjoy being part of the fundraising efforts and appreciate that we are giving back to the community in which we proudly do business in."
