Parsippany Applebee's Offers Free Meals to Veterans

For a fourth consecutive year, the Applebee’s restaurant on Route 46 in Parsippany rolled out the red carpet to U.S. veterans and active duty military. This year, the restaurant and its 59 sister restaurants in New Jersey and Long Island served more than 18,000 “Thank You” meals in honor of those who have served our nation.

Veterans from all branches of the military, many of whom served in Korea and Vietnam, were guests of Applebee’s on Veterans Day. They were joined by active duty military like the Army Corps of Engineers who came up from bases like Fort Bragg, N.C., and elsewhere to help with the restoration following Hurricane Sandy.

Last year, in its coast-to-coast salute to the nation’s military, Applebee’s nationally served more than a million free meals. 

“We say ‘Thank You’ with a free meal, but this day at Applebee’s is really more about creating connections,” said Kevin Coughlin, director of operations for Applebee’s New Jersey. “Veterans gather to share stories, meet up with old friends and make new ones. This is by far our favorite day of the year. It’s our honor and privilege to serve and show our thanks to these men and women.”
