Parsippany Residents Battle Proposed Electric Line in Back Yard

JCP&L considering seven-mile transmission line running through Parsippany neighborhoods.

They call themselves Already Devalued and Devastated Homeowners of Parsippany, and they’re worried about more devastation that could lead to even more devaluing.

That’s why the group of Parsippany neighbors is battling Jersey Central Power & Light on a proposed electricity transmission line that would span seven miles from Montville to Whippany, according to nj.com.

The transmission line – 230 kilovolts, the report said – would include 100-foot tall poles and would run through some residents’ back yards. Members of the group have already felt the impact, they say, of the 500-kilovolt PSE&G line recently built for the Susquehanna-Roseland project.

JCP&L has yet to formally apply to the Board of Public Utilities, the report said. The line would impact residents on Norman Avenue, Winfield Drive, and a few other streets just north of Routes 46 and 80.
