As one of two delegates selected from Parsippany, Edmond joined over 800 male students from throughout the state for the conference.   Guest speakers included leaders in the fields of science, business and government, among them Gov. Chris Christie.

“I really enjoyed the governor’s speech.   He shared his own experiences as a Boys' State attendee and how that experience translated to his career and his current role as governor,” said Edmond.

In addition to the guest speakers, Edmond had the opportunity to attend numerous hands-on workshops where he had to make speeches and be elected into various civic positions.

“Participating in these seminars has helped my public speaking tremendously,” he said.

Edmond said another highlight for him was the opportunity to experience campus living.

“Having the opportunity to meet new people and share a dorm was great fun,” he said.

When asked what he will take with him from his experiences when he returns to the High in September, Edmond said he will continue to volunteer his services to the Key Club and other school groups and be a more proactive citizen.

He also suggests to his fellow classmates who are offered the chance to attend Boys' State to do it.

'“It is well worth it,” he said.
