Icy Weather Cancels Parsippany Council Meeting

Parsippany police chief: Roads, sidewalks 'expected to freeze.'

UPDATE:

"Due to the inclement weather, the Agenda Meeting of the Township Council scheduled for this evening has been cancelled," said Township Clerk Yancy Wazirmas.

The snow Tuesday morning affected early commuters and closed all Parsippany-Troy Hills schools.

The Academy for Children in Mountain Lakes closed at noon. Know of any cancellations/delays? Let us know in the comments section below.

"The snow is expected to fall into early afternoon with a sudden drop in temperature after that," said Paul Philipps, Parsippany Chief of Police and Emergency Management Coordinator in an alert around 8 a.m. Tuesday. "Roadways and sidewalks are expected to freeze later making driving as well as walking very slick around the time of the evening commute. Our area can expect 3"-6" of snow before the storm passes us by."

Use caution when driving on the roads. Earlier today, a car went into a ditch on I-80 in Parsippany.

"As always, check on elderly neighbors as well as the sick and those with small children," said Philipps. "Sidewalks and stairs can be difficult to clear for them and it will be more difficult to clear surfaces after they freeze later on today. Be careful out there today."
