Stickley Museum Earns $27K State Grant

'We are thrilled that our operating support grant has been steadily increasing since 2009,' said museum Executive Director Heather Stivison.

The New Jersey Historical Commission recently awarded the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms a grant of $27,212.

Stickley Museum, located at 2352 Route 10 West in Morris Plains, is operated by The Craftsman Farms Foundation, a nonprofit organization, as Gustav Stickley’s estate, restored to its 1911 appearance.

“We are thrilled that our operating support grant has been steadily increasing since 2009,” said Museum Executive Director Heather Stivison. “The funding has a huge impact on what we can accomplish each year. And the increased level of support is a tangible recognition of our institution’s growth and relevance to the community.”

According to Lt. Governor Guadagno, the grant will enhance educational programming for students, expand historic preservation efforts, facilitate new academic research and scholarship as well as raise awareness of New Jersey's place in American history.

The Museum was the only institution in the state to receive the New Jersey Historical Commission’s Award of Recognition in 2011. The New Jersey Historical Commission’s grant programs are determined through an independent, third-party peer review process. General operating support funding is made possible by a portion of the revenue produced by the state’s Hotel/Motel Tax legislation.
