Take a Spin in Rainbow Lakes

A cute little Parsippany playground that's worth the trip

The Rainbow Lakes Playground is not far off Fox Hill Road. Turn onto Oakdale and then follow the wooden municipal signs to get to this hidden haven.  View a map here.

Drive down the short driveway and park on the black top.  You’ll find a baseball field in front of you with the backstop to your left and the playground equipment to your right.

Tucked in the woods, this playground is a nice shady retreat or a great place for a autumn leaf hunt or acorn gathering.  There’s a good chance given the humidity of the area that you may find some cool mushrooms too.

The playground features several climbing structures, monkey bars which are quite high off the ground and a fireman’s pole. This recently renovated equipment is meant for children from ages 5-12, but little ones may have fun sitting in the spinning “tea cup” or playing “store” at the table cleverly hidden underneath it all.

There are no swings at this playground, but you will find a few benches and a picnic table.

Before you go, pick up a snack at Route 53 Grill.  They have amazing empanadas. Or head out to Route 46 East and visit Mountain Lakes Bagel. You can picnic across the street from the playground at the Rainbow Lakes Mini-Park which features a gazebo, paved paths and a few more picnic tables and benches.

Rainbow Lakes is also a fun neighborhood to tour.  The kids will enjoy seeing the lake and you will enjoy looking at the lovely homes that surround it.
