Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Completed Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project
For Boy Scout Stéphane Meunier, a member of Troop 39 in Morris Plains, the completion of his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project was not only an opportunity to demonstrate his leadership abilities and the skills he has acquired during his years as a Scout. It was a chance to benefit the members of his Parsippany community.

Meunier was introduced to Bobbie Humphrey, a woman who created a medication labyrinth in an unused parking lot at the Knoll Country Club. The meditation labyrinth is supposed to help relax the mind, however, the area was not in the best condition.
Meunier decided he needed to improve the lot's appearance so that it could offer a soothing experience for those who visit. Together with Humphrey, he decided to landscape and plant flowers around the fence and hillside and created signage to direct visitors to the labyrinth.
On a recent weekend in May, Meunier successfully completed the project making just a few minor adjustments to the plants he had planned so they would not fall prey to local wildlife.
“I was most proud about getting the 40 volunteers consisting of friends, family and scouts from my troop and other local troops to come out and help transform this area,” he said.
For Meunier, creating a relaxing place for the community to share was well worth the effort.
“It’s a lot of work to reach this point but there is a sense of accomplishment and that is a great feeling.”
