Tri-County Scholarship Fund Celebrates 30 Years

Nearly 500 attend annual awards ceremony at Parsippany Hilton.

The Tri-County Scholarship Fund celebrated 30 years of providing "Freedom Through Education" at its annual awards dinner last Tuesday at the .

Nearly 500 attended the event, which recognized:

  • Thomas J. Healey, partner of Healey Development LLC, and Sharon C. Taylor, senior vice president, human resources at Prudential, each received the Tri-County Scholarship Hall of Fame award.
  • Derrell Bradford, executive director of Better Education for Kids, received the Making a Difference award.

In addition, Samuel Sanchez and Julie Gamarra, Tri-County scholarship recipients representing their respective elementary and secondary schools, spoke of the opportunity to learn in a rigorous, safe environment and how it is changing their lives.

The evening also included the Guardian Angels festival of balloons, which raised an addition $100,000.

Joseph A. Gonnella and Donna D. Marki co-chaired the event, while Robert E. Mulcahy served as the master of ceremonies.

Tri-County Scholarship Fund is dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged children in northern New Jersey by providing private education.  Over the past 30 years, Tri-County Scholarship Fund has given more than 28,000 scholarships to thousands of children in Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties, regardless of their race, religion or national origin.
