Utility Companies Continue Restoring Power

Crews are still working; downed wires still should be avoided.

As of 8:58 a.m., Jersey Center Power and Lights that only 72 of its Parsippany customers remain without electricity. After restoring power to 770,000 of its customers throughout the state, 15,000 are still in the proverbial dark. The company says 5,700 of those customers are without power due to flooding.

The companies anticipate full restoration by Sunday. 

According to PSE&G, Irene has created the greatest number of outages in the company’s history in terms of outages. 

Both firms caution customers to beware of downed wires and damaged electrical equipment remains in place. They can be live and dangerous and must be avoided.
