Utility Companies Work Toward Full Restoration

Little by little, the lights are coming back on.

As the sun shines down three days past Irene, Jersey Central Power and Light reports that 365 of its Parsippany customers remain without electricity. The Public Service Electric and Gas Company says that 62,000 of its New Jersey customers have yet to have power restored. Utility crews reportedly are working around the clock to restore power to those affected by last weekend's storm.

The companies anticipate that most residents will be restored by the weekend with full restoration by early next week.

According to PSE&G, Irene has created the greatest number of outages in the company’s history in terms of outages.

A warning to beware of downed wires and damaged electrical equipment remains in place. They can be live and dangerous and must be avoided. If you have not already reported your electric service as being out, please call 1-888-544-4877.
