“Serving as a representative of the American Legion’s Boys State Conference has been a life-changing experience. It really opened my eyes to the world of local politics as well as politics on the county and state levels,” said Andrew.

Andrew, along with follow high school student Edmond Choi, was chosen among 12 students from the district to attend the prestigious conference.

As a senior at Par High, Andrew said he plans to use what he has learned during the week-long conference.

“As president of both the Key Club and Model Congress, I will benefit greatly from my experience in public speaking while at the conference," he said.

He will also use his skills serving as the Board of Education representative for the high school’s Student Council Executive Board and as a member of the National Honors Society, the Spanish Honors Society and the Academic Decathlon Club.

When thinking of the future, Andrew said he believes his experience at Boys State will definitely help him in whatever he does.

“My new knowledge about government and politics will really help me as a future history/education major.”
